Blank page using javascript window.open onClick command #10

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use javascript window.open('file://server/share/file.txt')
2. on click run javascript code
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Would like to see this open the file specified.  Instead it just opens a blank 
page.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
