yes, it seems to work in x-org just fine and works on every single time. but in wayland session, it only worked in kate text editor. didn't work on chrome, brave, or any wayland only chromium app, but worked when i set chrome to x11 only..

iHarryPotter178 commented 8 months ago

the problem seems to be ibus-avro not being updated for proper wayland support.

archisman-panigrahi commented 8 months ago

The problem is IBus not having proper wayland support (not Avro). I found this https://askubuntu.com/a/1021127/124466 for GNOME (but I cannot check as I don't use GNOME). I know that in KDE, ibus does not work with Wayland.

If you must use Wayland+KDE, and want to write Bangla, then you will have to use OpenBangla Keyboard with fcitx5, instead of Avro with IBus. Follow https://github.com/OpenBangla/OpenBangla-Keyboard/issues/357#issuecomment-1829381809 and then https://github.com/OpenBangla/OpenBangla-Keyboard/wiki/Configure-on-KDE-(Fcitx) I have been using this method for almost a year, and it also works with Plasma6.

Works in KDE neon latest ISO in wayland. Any problem you encountered will be ibus issue NOT "ibus-avro" issue.

I tested it as well, it seems to work in kate, and firefox, but not in brave and chrome if they are in wayland only mode, also not work in telegram, and 64gram, and some other apps which is wayland only. also doesn't work on krunner.

I did not know, openbangla existed, thanks, I'll give it a shot.

I treid to take a video, but spectacle seems to crash when i try to save the video.

I installed Kubuntu 24.04 (which has latest plasma 5, with Wayland), and ibus-avro works perfectly with Wayland.

I'm talking about plasma 6, which is the latest plasma on kde neon.

Yes, but x11 has display scaling issues making it unusable on small high resolution displays.

These things are better discussed and reported in IBus bug tracker, as these are all IBus issues.
