Hi I am trying to install chrome os on a FUJITSU Laptop with INTEL CORE 2 DUO (NO UEFI SUPPORT and I cannot even find any secureboot option in the BIOS)

Can anyone please help me how to install chrome os with playstore on it

Actually I am not that much tech savvy . So I will appreciate if anyone can tell me the full procedure

@sebanc I guess u are wrote the brunch file. Can u please help me Anyone else can also help Thanks in advance :) Please ..

@ironman440i The ReadMe says that brunch requires at least a first generation Core processor (Nehalem), so a Core 2 Duo isn't supported. You can try to follow the instructions for BIOS/Legacy boot, but probably it won't work. If you do want to run Android apps, you should try Android x86: if the Pie version does not work, then try latest Oreo. Or, probably better for a notebook with no touchscreen, PrimeOS.

Thanks a lot So can I install prime os on my notebook just like I install windows or any other os?

And is prime os as light as chrome os

I mean can my notebook run it without any lag unlike the windows is?

Can I run android apps on prime os?

And how about this: My laptop has 64 BIT ATOM CPU, but boots only in 32-bit UEFI mode (no legacy boot support) it requires bootia32.efi file to boot for example mint from USB. But how to boot chrome ? After copy bootia32.efi file to efi/boot partition I`ve got "gnu grub version 2.00 minimal bash-like" screen

lfom commented 3 years ago

@wasyleque You must do the other way around: user Brunch's GRUB configuration with your bootia32.efi. Probably you will have to do the same after the installation (check if bootia32.efi is also present in the installation). How you will do this depends on how bootia32.efi was build, but basically you need to make it read Brunch's cfg for GRUB.

wasyleque commented 3 years ago

I took it from https://github.com/hirotakaster/baytail-bootia32.efi and dont have too much experience with UEFI, but some more with linux and grub. Where should I start ? I did not understood cause the bootia32.efi file is not present in installation ... I just copied it after mounted EFI partition , as I said the PC is booting to GRUB and I have "gnu grub version 2.00 minimal bash-like" screen. I`m looking for some help but did not found any.

lfom commented 3 years ago

@wasyleque This error usually means that GRUB did not find its configuration file (usually something like grub.cfg). As I said, you should start with a working GRUB for your device, then replace the config file with the one from Brunch, or perhaps simply add the entry or entries that boots Brunch. As I said, it will depend on the bootia32.efi you have, there is no generic formula to make it work.

FYI, after multiple hours trying to use EUFI and failing, I reverted to MBR and used mbr_support.tar.gz with samus_recovery.bin.

I used the instructions from the following article to install ChromeOS on my Asus laptop: https://beebom.com/how-install-chrome-os-on-pc/ I disabled UEFI in the BIOS and ChromeOS boots-up without any issues.

Laptop Specs: Asus A53SV-XN1 [Gen2 Intel Processor: i5-2410M (integrated Intel® HD Graphics 3000)

Thanks everyone for all your help.

I'm not really directly involved in this anymore, but I did try the latest MBR package:

My Asus netbook booted from GRUB just fine as it has, but ChromeOS is 'not found' (as per normal).

Hello! @darethehair your issue matches with my one but I found a new method [https://github.com/sebanc/brunch/issues/1088]()

Hello guys, i followed all the steps but im getting the same thing and nothing happens after that. Earlier i was trying to install fyde os and got the same error and then decided to go with ChromeOs. Some suggested to check if my secure boot is on in the BIOS, but there is no option under any tab for secure boot. I have an old intel i3 3rd gen sony vaio(VPCEA33EN) laptop(UEFI not supported) I'd really appreciate your help.
