[BUG-227876] [Mac] Space Navigator not working anymore

What just happened?

The 3d navigation device space navigator ( 3d connecxions ) seems to have stop working. space navigator device was until recently the ultimate second life navigation device. right now, it doesn't seem to work anymore, rendering secondlife useless

What were you doing when it happened?

i was trying to navigate SL unsung space navigator.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

movement was unpredictable. i could not change into "mouselook/" or free camera movement.

Other information

without space navigator support SL is pretty much useless.

Which space nav driver version do you have installed?

Versions are :

 

3DxMacCore version 1.1.3

3DxWare version 10.6.4

when i click "Check Update" it says : Software is up-to-date

Hi Ziah,

I'm unable to reproduce the issue you are reporting on my Mac with a SpaceNavigator. Please try this.

1. Disconnect your SpaceNavigator
2. Completely remove any extra 3DxWare software from you Mac.
3. Reboot your Mac
4. Reconnect your SpaceNavigator (this should "just work" without additional software)
5. Launch Second Life
6. Open Me > Preferences > Move & View > Other Devices
7. In the Joystick Configuration menu which should now be open, click SpaceNavigator Defaults button

8. Click the OK button on any open menus

   Now does the SpaceNavigator work as expected?

   Please press the Info Provided button and let me know.

I have tried that, but no change. The Space navigator movements are unpredictable, and i can't switch to free cam mode. It works in any other software besides SL as expected.

I visited the 3Dx WebSite and Secondlife is no longer listed as supported Software.

Has the Space Navigator been abandoned by Linden Labs?

Out of interest, are you having the same problem with your space nav on Firestorm viewer too?

Hi Ziah,

Thank you for your patience while we investigate this issue. I do need to clarify that while we did encourage the use of the Space Navigator, we do not officially support it. If we cannot determine what is wrong and cannot easily reproduce the issue, we may not be able to resolve your issue.

That said, please provide a copy of your Second Life logs from a session where you were trying to use the SpaceNavigator unsuccessfully, and then before relaunching the viewer, zip up your viewer logs folder and attach it to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files. This page tells you where to find the logs folder: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-report-a-bug/ta-p/733545#Section_.3

Also attach a screen shot of your Joystick Configuration menu from Me > Preferences > Move & View > Other Defices.
