We feel parameter is not a technical jargon that will make new users unsure.
If in doubt they can consult the dictionary definition:

None of this explained what a parameter means in your context. It seems pretty unreasonable that a normal user will decide to go to the specific dictionary.com definition of parameter to understand the word.
This was written in a user guide where most users are not very technically savvy. Reading this certainly would be confusing and affect normal operation of the product.
Additionally, by this logic, users can also simply google every term in the glossary like CLI or GUI, making the glossary essentially useless.
New users do not know what is a parameter
