Our plan this weekend is to complete the framing of the rear wall and front extension. Then we can decide whether to get 中空平板 or 波板 for the walls. I'm leaning towards the former but we just need to figure out which is cheaper.
Didn't do much over the weekend because
Today, we put up the air curtains. Need more furring strips. Curtains are too short, there's a 2~3 cm gap at the bottom. We'll cover it up if it becomes a problem.
Air curtains are essentially done. A few more strips needed to fix the edges but it'll work for now.
The main frame is ready. We kind of ignored how the roof of the driveway extension will look but we've figured it out now. Basically the exposed part of the garage will have a shed style roof same as the actual garage. The unexposed will have 'wall' that goes all the up from the rafters to the soffits. This will block the snow from being blow into the garage.
We will need to assemble a smaller piece of rectangular frame for that wall.I've already cut 2 pieces of 750mm blocking that goes from the real wall to the end of where our 'make believe' wall will be. Next steps will be to add 'legs' for it down to the rafters.
Once that is that, we can assemble the shed roof.
I hope we can complete within the next week, so we can get back to working on the shed and also finally have time to start working on Codex and Millefeuille.
Nafco was mostly out of the air curtains I wanted. They also didn't have the barn door hangers, so I bought them off Amazon.
Change of plans, the extended driveway will have a flat roof. We'll add horizontal supports.
I've added some of them. Tomorrow, we'll go get the furring strips then we can start to secure the air curtains onto it. Let's see how it goes.
It's been a while. Turns out snowboarding is more fun than home DIY projects! Who knew?!
Anyway, today's progress
Only thing really left to do is add the barn door, but I have a feeling I won't be doing it this winter, so this task is done.
This not shed related but I need a place to keep track of home DIY projects without creating a new repo. Maybe I should just rename this one.
Description
Prep for winterising the garage. Rough overview.
Build a wall around the back to keep the snow out. Have a door that opens inwards. Or a sliding barn door. Unsure yet which to use.
Around the front, build an enclosure that extends the opening out into the asphalt so both vehicles can be parked, and the snow blower can be moved in/out easily.
For the sides, put up the air curtains we got last year, but secure them with wooden battens instead of tiny metal hooks that break with the slightest breeze.
Purpose of this issue is for planning.
