Description

In working with a customer on GCP migration, JH has captured recommendations that may be helpful:

GCE instances with n2-standard-4 at a minimum
Local NVMe for storage
All backends in the same region - Regional MIGs okay
External etcd cluster in the same region as the backends
etcd cluster instances are excepted from MIG redistribution
Event store utilizing PostgreSQL, via CloudSQL with HA
Layer 4 load balancers for Sensu agent to backend traffic

We should discuss how to incorporate this info into our existing cloud recommendations.

Also, if any of the GCP recommendations apply for the other cloud providers we have documented, we could improve those recommendations too.

Applicable for all providers: GCE instances with n2-standard-4 at a minimum Local NVMe for storage All backends and etcd in the same region (we recommend clustering within the same region) regional MIGs are specific to GCP

Any cloud providers database instances should be fine: Event store utilizing PostgreSQL, via CloudSQL with HA

No need to mention load balancers. This is an architecture consideration and would be more appropriate for our arch doc/diagrams.

Note: Sensu doesn't require a particular CPU manufacturer.

For Sensu backends or etcd nodes, [recommendations].
