PTE Doesn't Work #106

Open barbaracska opened 9 years ago

barbaracska commented 9 years ago

Hi, I have tried to use the PTE on my website. http://www.jet-settera.com. I m unable to make this work. I use firefox and wordpress 4.0.1. I usually click on full width and large crop then press crop and save, but it doesn't save. I also tried large crop only and even didn't save that way. I have already disabled many plug-ins to make sure that I don't have conflicting plug-in, but didn't work. My email is barbaracska@hotmail.com. Please help! Thank you!

Have you tried enabling debugging (are there any error messages in the log)? If you're using safari, try the latest off of github as there is a fix for it.

barbaracska commented 9 years ago

Hi Brent,

Thank you for your prompt reply. There are no error messages. So I am trying to edit the header of the following post: http://www.jet-settera.com/art-basel-miami/

When I click on large crop and full width, then i get the following. And it does not seem to be saving.

When I only click on large crop, I can see the new thumbnail in the right hand side, however the new thumbnail does not appear in the page after I press update page ad view page. So, I dont understand why I cannot save the new thumbnail in the first scenario and also, why I cannot insert the new thumbnail to the post. Thank you for your help.

Do you see anything in the javascript console? What browser are you using? What version of the plugin?

barbaracska commented 9 years ago

Hey Brent, I don't really know what the javascript console is . I am using Safari. I will let you know the version of the plug-in once I get home. If you want, I can give you access to the site if you think you can help me fix this issue. Thank you, Barbara

With safari you should be using 2.4.3-beta which is available from here: https://github.com/sewpafly/post-thumbnail-editor/archive/master.zip

barbaracska commented 9 years ago

Hi Brent,

I am using Version 2.4.2 of the PTE plug-in.

Thanks, Barbara

Hey Brent, I have updated the PTE for the new version, but it is still not working. I see the cut image on the right hand side, but how do I apply this for the post? Somehow it does not save to the post. Please kindly advise how to fix this issue, as this has been a big issue for me for a while and I would like to solve this.

Thank you, Barbara

I don't have access to a Safari browser unfortunately, so unless I can get more information, i won't be much help.

barbaracska commented 9 years ago

I dont see any error message in the javascript console. I also use Firefox too, so Safari is not an issue for me. When I select large cropped, I get the following message:

No image has been generated yet for image: 'full-width'

So it looks like the theme wants me to generate an image as full width, however I cannot just pick full width as a criteria. It doesnt work. I tried in Firefox too, but it still doesnt work. I think there is a trick in how to do this, because in the very beginning i managed to re-size one photo but I dont know what I did. Ever since, I have been trying to resize images without any success. So, if you could tell me how this thumbnail works, that would be great. This has been a major issue for me for the last month or two.

Thank you for your help, Barbara

Basic premise:

  1. Select the thumbnails in the table that you want to modify.
  2. Select the crop of the image by dragging on the image
  3. Select the "save" button which will let you review the crop

More information can be found here: http://sewpafly.github.io/post-thumbnail-editor/editor/#cropping

Additionally there are some youtube videos of it in action here: http://youtu.be/ESDHKnW50No, http://youtu.be/CZ7Rs1bz95M, http://youtu.be/MgnvUEqBVZY

If it would help, I could look at your site to see if there is something wrong, but I don't think that there is. The message about the missing image isn't an "error" per se, it just means wordpress hasn't yet generated the image.

Hi Brent,

I have watched all the videos. I have seen some of these before. Thank you for sending these and all your kind help with this. Everything works the way it is described in the video tutorial, however the cropped image does not show after I cropped it in the thumbnail. So it is very frustrating and I dont understand why it happens this way. Check out the following image: http://www.jet-settera.com/glamour/

I think my IT guy fixed it. It was a real pain. We decided not to use the PTE in the end. Thanks for your email.
