True story! It's typically taught as "breaking larger incomprehensible problems into bite-sized pieces". I randomly suggest investigating if given solutions are appropriate for given problems at all times in all disciplines, as I suspect we have major "impedance mismatches" between coding requirements and user requirements in my fields. This is a perennial source of inspiration: solving real-world problems better through technology, as we all know plenty about mediocre quasi-solutions.

If you feel like the magic has gone from engineering and programming then congratulations, you’ve made it to the future. Take as much of it as you like, but look after it and think carefully about what you’re going to do with it.

Yeah, I also start to feel like motivation and the ability to stay motivated and excited is very important for the later career! Perhaps, that is why so many switch to an alternative field like management.

It was all about what I could make the basic 8 bit tech do back in 1983. Wind forward 16 years and I'd left both software development and management of development.

All sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology?
Where has the magic gone?
