Make website with data we already have

The data that I already have:

• Ryder (137 verse translations from Bhartṛhari, of the 213 at https://shreevatsa.net/ryder/verses/verses.html)
• Tawney (259 verse translations based on Telang, source https://archive.org/details/twocenturiesofbh00bhar)
• Mādhavānanda (100 verses, source https://archive.org/details/VairagyasatakamOfBhartrhari)
• GRETIL (343, source http://gretil.sub.uni-goettingen.de/gretil/1_sanskr/5_poetry/5_subhas/bharst_u.htm + some manual ad-hoc fixes and additions)
• Telang (288 verses, source https://archive.org/details/dli.granth.78136 — picked because Tawney follows it)
• Gopinath (326 verses, source https://books.google.com/books?id=XikpAAAAYAAJ = https://books.google.com/books?id=VeBjAAAAMAAJ — picked because it had English translations for everything, so was faster to skim when I first started, and was less familiar with the verses :) ).

The last two are just page (region) images, not proofread. The main point is that for all the above I have mapping of each verse to numbers from Kosambi's canonical list. (So far encountered 352 - 23 + 36 = 365 verses total.)

Will make a website out of these over the next few days/weeks.

So let me think through how I'll make this website.

• Will it be (say) a Flask/Django web app? No, it can be a static website (serve from Netlify) so it makes sense to be a static website.
• This means generating a bunch of static webpages.
• Write them by hand? No, there's the “data” (from the spreadsheet) and it makes sense to use that data, and have a program generate the webpages.
• Use Hugo? Appealing at first sight, but the documentation is incomprehensible and I don't really need most of its features here.
• Use Pandoc? Maybe, but it's not clear if I'll have Markdown I need to convert, or what…
• So just write Python scripts that generate HTML files. Templates! That's what I need. jinja2. Ok.

So, to the website itself. What pages will it have? MVP:

• A page for each individual verse, say /verse/k001 and so on. This will contain, for each "book", the chunk(s) for that Kanonical number.
• A page for each book, like /book/ryder, that contains (as a list) all the “chunks” (verse/footnote/endnote/heading) in that book, and, for each of them, an additional link to the Kanonical page (the above).
