Hi there,
I am building ESP32-based lights with the awesome WLED firmware. Though it has tons of APIs and features, UI wise there is a lack in proper remote control options. I (and other WLED tinkerers, too) would really love to have a solid remote (like the milight ones) for controlling these. Sure, there is the workaround with HA-MQTT-detour, but a more direct solution (JSON? HTTP Reques? UDP?) would be of great value.
Though I am no coder and lack in a deeper understanding off all this underlying protocols, my guts tell me that the gap could be overcome somehow, as I see a few possible setups:
Every WLED ESP has an attached NRF24L01, so a “hacked” milight hub would act as a NRF-NRF bridge
The hub acts as a NRF-Wifi bridge, translating the NRF codes from the remote to something that WLED does understand (UDP? MQTT?GET?..?)
A Usermod within the WLED firmware with an attached NRF directly translates the remote codes into something that WLED does understand
There is the option to control the milight lights via UDP servers, so I wonder if these bulbs could be integrated into the WLED ecosystem. At least WLED also supports UDP realtime.
As I used diyHue to integrate the milights into the hue ecosystem via the milight-hub, I wonder if the hue-emulator-bridge could be used to get the milight lights connected to WLED in any way.
If you see a straight way here and can give me/us some directions where to go from here, please let me know.
Thanks in advance
quan
