Backwards Compatibility #44

Hello,

I am using your library as a dependency, and would like to make my app backwards compatible (likely to 8.4). Is this possible?

Have you tried it with 0.8.4? I would guess that many of the features will work fine. Have you identified areas of the API that do not?
