Change your slit placement to something starting with Left or Right.

Hi Mark,
Thanks, setting slit placement to Right Top does the trick to make it all slit clients appear on one column.
The fbpager issue still exists. When I login to my account, fbpager is totally blank and doesn't show any of the desktops (just one giant grey square). Killing fbpager and restarting it "fbpager -w &" shows the desktops (ie the borders between the desktops) but doesn't show any of the apps in those desktops. ie. fbpager shows all desktops as running no apps.
Trying fluxter results in this error message: "Cannot connect to window manager"
I hope this feedback is helpful for you.

fbpager is known not to work with 1.1.0*. It was using proprietary blackbox features that we removed, and it hasn't been updated to use the standard EWMH features provided by all recent window managers. We consider this a bug in fbpager.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the info. Does this also apply to fluxter pager?

I have no idea about fluxter. Submit a bug to its creator, whoever that is.

Hi Mark,
Fluxter looks abandoned, and seems to be based on bbpager.
bbpager seems to work with fluxbox 1.1, but fluxter doesn't.
For reference, some EWMH compatible pagers:
OBpager http://obpager.sourceforge.net/
NetWMpager No homepage, but can be googled for. Here's one page: http://openports.se/x11/netwmpager
Many thanks Mark for you prompt responses. It is indeed appreciated.
Kind regards, rumpole7@yahoo.com

Hi Mark,
A correction to my earlier post -
bbpager won't start if placed in apps file. (I'm guessing the lastest bbpager is not totally ewmh compliant)
Once fluxbox is running and bbpager is launched it runs fine without any problems.

Hi,
When I run gkrellm and fbpager, the fbpager doesn't start on the bottom of gkrellm, it starts on the side. Rotating clients seems to have no effect. I tried killing fbpager and restarting but with the same results.
Strangley, when I first started fluxbox, the fbpager started on the bottom of gkrellm but fbpager was totally blank - no borders in fbpager showing the desktops. I killed fbpager and restarted it and it seemed fine.
Next time I logged in, the fbpager was starting on the side as indicated in the first paragraph; and I was unable to get it to start on the bottom of gkrellm.
I have 9 virtual desktops setup as follows:
Apps file in .fluxbox
[startup] {gkrellm -w} [startup] {fbpager -w} [app] (Mozilla) [Workspace] {0} [end] [app] (main_window) [Workspace] {1} [end] [app] (thumbwin) [Workspace] {2} [end] [app] (jpilot) [Workspace] {3} [end] [app] (D4X_Main) [Workspace] {4} [end] [app] (soffice) [Workspace] {8} [end]
I hope this description of sympotoms helps.
I tried to run fluxter instead of fbpager but it gives the error "can't connect to window manager".
Also, when installing fluxbox I got this error:
/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ./windowmenu /usr/local/share/fluxbox/windowmenu /usr/bin/install: cannot stat `./windowmenu': No such file or directory make[3]: *** [install-pkgdataDATA] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hdd/LinuxSW/WindowManagers/fluxbox/fluxbox-1.1.0/data' make[2]: *** [install-am] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hdd/LinuxSW/WindowManagers/fluxbox/fluxbox-1.1.0/data' make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hdd/LinuxSW/WindowManagers/fluxbox/fluxbox-1.1.0/data' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
These are not show stoppers, but I thought I point them out to you.
