Compatibility with "Personal Menu" Add-on #252

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download Personal Menu add-on
(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/personal-menu/).
2. Place the menu button from "Personal Menu" in the Menu Bar.
3. Download Hide Caption Titlebar Plus (HCTP) and do not select the option to
"Enable custom Firefox 'Home' Button" (a.k.a. menu button).

What is the expected output?
Shows a menu button (or as you call it, the 'home' button) that displays a
customizable, pre-Firefox 29-style menu.

What do you see instead?
After hiding and then unhiding the menu bar, the button from "Personal Menu"
add-on disappears.

What version of "Hide Caption Titlebar Plus" addon are you using?
2.8.6

What version of Firefox?
29.0.1

On what operating system?
Windows XP

- Please provide any additional information below.
Hiding and unhiding the Menu Bar is necessary to show the titlebar correctly
after customizing. This problem of the menu button disappearing occurs whether
the title bar is enabled or disabled (either through Firefox or the HCTP
options) and whether the HCTP option to "Enable custom Firefox 'Home' Button"
is enabled or disabled. HCTP's own home/menu button still works, but only
shows a post-Firefox 29-style menu, so users who like the old menu need to use
"Personal Menu" Add-on, which is incompatible with HCTP.

I downloaded Classic Theme Restorer (CTR) and after disabling and re-enabling
Personal Menu, it works just fine. However, I would like to let you know that
the Firefox button from CTR is itself incompatible with HCTP. If I choose
CTR's option to place the button into the titlebar (rather than a toolbar),
then I end up with spacing where the button should be but no button. If I
disable HCTP, then the problem resolves itself. Do you perhaps have some
settings for the Firefox button set as "!important?"
