This may be a solution for the latest android auto version：

You must clean gms data and android auto app data,then unlock again

if aa unlock not work ,you can try this app: you can use Android Auto 3rd party App Enabler:https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-auto-general/app-android-auto-3rd-party-app-enabler-t3853009

You can not re-enable developer and unknown sources. You should always keep AA on release and no unknown sources .

It does work well on my phone: XiaoMi 8, android pie, gms:14.5.74, android auto:3.7.584044

my Samsung S6+ also works well

  1. ) I use the german gui, so ist a Little bit irritating. Your option "release", it is the first or the third option? In the german gui there "version" and "einzelhandel". I think it will be the third option...

  2. ) "I have to uncheck "unknown source". Should i not recheck it after the "unlock", because AA Mirror need the "unknown source" option activated?

The Option "release” is android auto app‘s setting，the location is ：Android auto>left menu >about >right menu >developer setting >application model

You should keep “release” option and uncheck "unknown source"

HI all, was able to unlock AA and give it SU rights. After a few seconds screen goes blank and AA freezes. Also it resets my phones's resolution where icons becomes smaller and there is a border on my screen . Would appreciate if someone can help.

I followed all the steps several times, but I can't get AA Mirror to start working again. I tried changing the Application Model to Release. Unchecked Unknown Source. Tried to unlock again and reboot, no AA Mirror option when tapping the speedometer icon on car screen. I tried to clear the Android Auto data and do everything from scratch. Doesn't work. Tried all the steps on another tablet that was working before, doesn't work. Tried the 3rd Party App that was suggestion, also doesn't make AA Mirror option come back

Next try by myself: -stop updating services -downgrade Android Auto via apk -downgrade Google Play Store via apk -Trying all options (application model, unknown source) nohing works for me :-( WTF?!

I got it to work on one Samsung tablet after installing the UnlockChecker-v2. But I tried everything on a different Samsung tablet, and can't get it to work. I think GMS is the same thing as Google Play Services, I tried clearing all the data from that and Android Auto, still works on one and not the other. I don't get it.

I've been using oandbackup (DL from fdroid) to backup aa mirror, aa unlock, unlocker2, and Android Auto. If a Android Auto update breaks aa mirror I can usually restore aa mirror, aa unlock and unlocker2 to get Android Auto and aa mirror to interact again. Usually have to plug in phone usb to car first, Android auto loads, unplug, restore apps/settings of aa mirror, aa unlock, unlocker2 with oandbackup, and usually have it working in a minute or so.

Exactly which app do I clear for "gms data"? Also, what if I don't see a "Developer Setting" in AA?

I am pretty sure what they meant by GMS is Google Play Services (m is for mobile I think). I finally got it to work on my 2nd tablet too. I did clear the Google Play Services and Android Auto data, I got a slightly older (2 versions ago) version of Android Auto from APK mirror site. You get Developer Settings by going to About in Android Auto then tap on the text that says "About Android Auto" about 10 times. UnlockChecker-v2 I think was the secret souse for me as it can unlock without rebooting. But I also did the Unlock with the other 2 apps first. Not 100% sure what actually made it work, but really glad it's working right now. Hopefully Google won't break it again.

Hi there, i try everything (developer mode/release mode, unknown sources on/off, autoAppEnabler_v1.1.apk and other unlocker tools etc.), but nothing works for me.

This one finaly works fine for me (with all up-to-date version of AA and GPS) 1.) Install aa mirror plus https://drive.google.com/uc?authuser=0&id=1RWZBz91fgkQe7myt5vm-jnZTlZ0kEdb4&export=download

2.) Install Sqlite3 for root, launch it and click Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kanolato.sqlite&hl=en

3a.)Activate USB Debugging on your rooted phone (Android developer setting) b.)Download Windows Tool by XDA User shmykelsa: https://www.mediafire.com/file/efjsjm68hbybkwv/ANDROID+AUTO+PATCHER.exeJen94 Connect you phone via USB, start exe on your Windows PC, choose you tools (AA Mirror, A Mirror Plus etc.) and patch

4.) Reboot phone and start AA

I confirm the AA Mirror & AA Mirror Plus work using AA_Phenotype_Patcher_0.85, but FIRST you should clear data of Android Auto and Google Play services.

My BIG QUESTION now is should we block AA and GPS for updates? In my opinion screen mirroring in AA is like a ping-pong game, Google always block AA Mirror (3rd party apps) and devs always find solutions to hack Google blocks (sometimes this takes much time and is hard to apply them). What should we do?

Hello everyone First of all thank you for your work. Here is my problem: My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S9 plus rooted Android 9.0 I'm using AA Mirror 1.0 and AA Phenotype Patcher 0.85 The installation and the settings are all perfect. If I plug my phone to the car, I can select AA Mirror and start it My problem is that it is not showing the screen of my phone I can only see my apps and if I open one of them the screen freezes. And I can use the touchscreen from my car to navigate on my phone even though the screen is frozen. Help please 😕

Android Auto just forced an update on me, does that mean we are completely out of luck if we can't use older versions anymore? I had it all working, having to do the unlock frequently, but at least it was working.
