@hstove @jasperjansz Thoughts on whether we should fit this functionality into initial release of the rebuild?
Hey folks, wanted to bump the priority on this:
Our current documented process for user data deletion is manual, time consuming, requires co-ordination between several teams in PBC and is opaque from an end-user perspective.
It'll be simpler, faster and easier for everyone involved if we just let users delete their own data should they so choose. Imagine a big red button with sufficient warnings -- that way the process can be completely self-serve and users remain in full control.
Might require some additional Gaia work to provide an easy API for this, but otherwise I've been told this is relatively straight forward from an implementation standpoint.
We do get a steady stream of these deletion requests and it's an undue burden on PBC resources. Assigning to Mark for prioritization.
Is there an update on this, from a user perspective? The "user data deletion" link seems to be broken as well.
@pgray-hiro do you know if the above docs content was moved to another page or removed entirely?
@GinaAbrams do you know if and how we are still supporting these deletion inquiries internally at Hiro?
@markmhx It looks like the above page was not migrated to the new site design when it was done last year. The original Markdown file is preserved in the git history.
Is support@blockstack.com still in use? Per the Markdown, I have to send them an email. If not, who should I contact? Thanks!
Hello--still wondering about this. Thanks!
Hey @humzalikhan please use support@hiro.so thank you!
Users should have the ability to delete their profile, app data. There should exist a button in the profile or settings to upload a blank profile, remove data from known app data buckets and reset the browser. This allows users to completely exit and not leave any data.
