support TPS65086 restart #8

@Esmil has gotten TPS65086 restart working in their Linux 5.12 starlight branch working by configuring CONFIG_MFD_TPS65086 and CONFIG_POWER_RESET_TPS65086 along with:

@esmil I would like to get reset working in the Fedora (v5.10) branch in this repo that Wei Fu (@tekkamanninja) created. Do you think it would make sense to cherry pick those commits from your v5.12 starlight branch?

Sure. That should work fine. Just remember that you'll need to generate and use the arch/riscv/boot/dtb/starfive/jh7100-starlight.dtb. Eg. add fdt /path/to/jh7100-starlight.dtb to the entry in /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf.

@tekkamanninja Consider cherry-picking at least the device tree directly from my starlight branch instead. In the meantime the device tree has been cleaned up further and an entry for the LED has been added.

@tekkamanninja I think Fedora needs this config for the TPS65086 restart to work when using @esmil 5.13 branch: CONFIG_MFD_TPS65086=y CONFIG_POWER_RESET_TPS65086=y

There is now Fedora 5.13 image: https://beagleboard.org/~pdp7/Fedora-riscv64-vic7100-xfce-dev-Rawhide-20210618.n.0-sda.raw.zst

But the reset does not yet work.

In general you need to check 3 things:

  1. The right device tree is loaded. Look for Machine model: BeagleV Starlight Beta in dmesg
  2. The TPS65086 driver loads properly. Look for tps65086 0-005e: Device: TPS650861, OTP: A, Rev: 0 in dmesg
  3. The tps65086-reset driver is built-in or loaded. Look for CONFIG_POWER_RESET_TPS65086=y in /proc/config.gz or check lsmod
