@anoriginalmoniker yes, that would be feasible. Could you give me an example of that what date-me format would be helpful? Something like YYYY-MM; YYYY-MM-DD?

Personally, I use my daily note as a sort of log, so all the notes I create on a certain date link to my daily note, which is in "YYYY.MM.DD dd" or "2022.04.20 Wed".
But I imagine I'm not the only person who would benefit from such functionality.
Love your work on this. It's a major part of my workflow and makes my life much easier.

I'm wondering if you'd consider adding a customizable date-time variable for the custom template. This would allow linking to daily notes.
