Can't search for a patron using Preferred First Name in "Check out" #20

Submitted By: chiodo@stanford.edu Description: I gave my test patron a "Preferred First Name" and was able to search for them using that name in the "Users" app, BUT I can only search for them by their formal "First Name" when I use the "Patron look-up" function in the "Check out" app. My test patron name is James "Jim" Tiberius Kirk (he's been our test patron in Voyager for years, so I figured I'd continue the tradition). I can find him under the name Jim Kirk in "Users" but not in the "Patron look-up" part of the "Check out" app. While not urgent, this needs to at least be fixed before rollout since this could be triggering for people from whom we may need to request a deadname to look them up by name. Instance HRID: Patron barcode: 12345654321 FOLIO App: Check out Urgency: It's not urgent. Browser: Chrome

Thanks for raising this. We could make a request to the FOLIO community to include Preferred First Name in Patron Look-Up, however for Stanford's use of FOLIO, we are not using the Preferred First Name field. User records are loaded from the university's registry, and we only load data into the FIrst, Middle and Last name fields; we do not load anything into Preferred First Name.

Do you have a scenario where you would need to add a Preferred First Name to someone's record?

Slacked Nicole about this since it was reported via the form and not github

tested in Nolana and I can lookup a patron by middle name in Patron checkout. (also Nicole tested on FOLIO demo instance a while back and it worked)
