I'm helping the current lesson Maintainers process outstanding pull requests on this repository, in preparation for transition to the new lesson infrastructure.

Thank you for this contribution @cknuepfer. This change is a logical followup to https://github.com/swcarpentry/r-novice-inflammation/commit/4ab5267a258f9a360d3c8ed7937aceada00ec23e and I agree with deleting these lines (though it could be argued to keep these for enforcement of the concept).
