Describe your system:
 - Ubuntu 13.04 64bit
 - Intel i5 2500 64bit
 - Mupen64Plus version: 1.99.5
 - Plugins used: Default installed (I think for video it's called rice)

For visual artifacts, give:
 - mario kart, super smash brothers
 - Error: Couldn't open rom file "X" for reading.

Describe the problem:
I have been testing both Ubuntu 13.04, 13.10 and Linux mint 14 and it had
worked just fine. I just reinstalled ubuntu 13.04, installed mupen64plus and
tried to run it and now i get that error message with every rom. It hadn't
happened so I don't know what could cause the problem. I changed my rom files'
names to make them terminal friendly so I know the name is not the problem,
besides I created a file which i keep on reusing wth a script to run the rom,
so it's not a typing problem, because that's the same file I've been using on
every installation:

#! /bin/bash

mupen64plus '/home/mg/roms/supersmashbrothers.v64'

I also created one for mario kart and they are both changed to be able to
execute with chmod 755.

Please provide any additional information below.

Every time I reinstall i copy my mupen64plus.cfg file to make sure that my
controllers work, and it has been working fine. These are the files I copied:
~/.config/mupen64plus/mupen64plus.cfg          >for my configuration
~/.local/share/mupen64plus.cfg/save/*          >for my save data
~/Escritorio/smash,kart >scripts to make it easier to
run them

I think I might know what the problem is now. When I was installing everything
I used:

$ su

so when I copied my roms to the roms folder they were I think owned by root,
because I tried overwriting in graphical interface one of them and it denied
permission. So I erased the whole folder and copy and pasted them again and now
it works just fine.

I don't understand what that means. I went to the code page and it says
status invalid.
