Information from issue #228.

""" I am facing the same issue. I have 2 different environments where single node cluster is working fine and 3 node cluster is not working. Its throwing error that it unable to communicate with jmx port however i am able to telnet the ports fine.

I think there are some issues with JMX port connection from Tabmon as for single node server its working fine and for all previous versions it was working fine. Can you please help me on this for rectification as this is on priority for me. """

Hello,

Before I dive into this issue, I have a couple of clarifying questions about the attached screenshots and the environment that TabMon is being set up in. My questions are below.

  1. Are these two screenshots from the same Tableau Server environment?
  2. The first screenshot shows that TabMon can connect to the Perfmon counters while the second is unable to. Did anything change in the environment?
  3. What version of TabMon is being used?
  4. What version of Tableau Server is being used?

Looking further into the screenshots, it looks like the first was able to connect but found close ports at he specified JMX ports. Screenshot 2 looks like specify ports was disabled and TabMon is reverting back to the old port scanning method. If you are using a newer version of Tableau Server, specifying ports will need to be enabled. The ports will then need to be added to the config.

It may be worth disabling and re-enabling JMX in Tableau Server as that sometimes resolves the issues with closed ports.

Once I get the requested information above I will be happy to dive into this issue.

Thanks, Dan
