NOTICE: About further development and support #15

Open taengstagram opened 7 years ago

taengstagram commented 7 years ago

As I'm no longer using this personally, I'm ceasing further development and will no longer provide support here in issues or elsewhere.

Devs are welcomed to fork and further develop this. If you maintain an active fork, feel free to post your repo address and other details here.

Thank you and good luck.

EDIT: I've left issues open so that users can try to help each other. But please maintain basic GitHub courtesy so that this does not become a mess.

Thanks.

Thank you for creating this script, it's been very useful. I'll probably have to teach myself some Python now and then fork this once it really needs an update, but can you give an estimate as to how future-proof the current version is? I think the very first release still does the job so I'm pretty confident in that the script will last for a while but I'm still curious as to how long you think it'll keep working properly. Again, thanks for the work you've put into making livestream_dl.

It's hard to say because IG has been on an aggressive rollout schedule. You can see this with the constant app updates on your phone.

My guess is, bugs and new features notwithstanding, it should work as-is for another 6 months. With some luck, a year is possible.

I would be shocked if it continues to work unchanged for longer than that though.

@notcammy Is this still working for you? I'm getting this <urlopen error timed out> then it proceeds to run normally most times.

@verafide This script still works fine without any errors or corrupted files on my end. Try a different network to further determine what is causing the error.

I've updated my original post at the top about leaving issues open even though the repo is no longer maintained. Please take note. Thanks.
