fresh install on qnap. When I try to open login page I get this error. XML syntax error on line 59: element closed by

no other info available to help sadly. tailscale version 1.46.1-1 qts version 5.1.0.2466 qnap model ts-563

Any idea's on where to look? fyi this same error happens with version currently published to qnap store as well.

XML syntax error on line 59: element closed by is the entire error?

What options relating to QNAP login are enabled, for example:

default ports only. tried both https and http.

My initial symptoms were after a fresh install I could not log into tailscale no matter what version I was using. I got a range of errors from cookie related errors to timeouts and you name it. Including qnap slowing to a near crawl and some apps refusing to launch. reason I'm not reporting exact versions or error logs is because the logs had nothing in them, and the version didn't matter, tried many releases including one currently in the qnap store.

After a lot of trial and error, I discovered the problem was for some reason tailscale sometimes conflicts with virtualstation and I'm not sure why. I assume this problem can also happen with containerstation. I suspect it may have something to do with the virtual network interfaces they create.

Work around. uninstall tailscale then uninstall the offending software. if it's virtualstation then uninstall it. reboot your nas. install tailscale first, then reinstall virtualstation. I don't know why but it seems to work flawlessly once you do. As qnap preserves virtual stations settings even when uninstalled, after you reinstall it any virtual machines you had configured will resume doing as they were preset to do in most cases.

I hope this helps others who are having this problem.

update. forgot to mention, if your nas is going super slow after installing tailscale, it will take your nas a really long time to uninstall it. Please do not reboot or kill power until it finishes the uninstall. It took mine nearly 3 hours to uninstall it when I had the major slowdown issue. Virtual station wouldn't launch and everything was insanely slow. take your time, get to the app center, and remove tailscale and wait for it to complete. you may have to reboot to get your nas to respond properly again after the removal of tailscale is finished. then proceed with removing virtualstation and reinstall tailscale first as mentioned above.
