[[NEEDS REWRITE]]

Generate a mesh network using the Helium crypto/network model

Sales pitch: Financially support protestors and freedom fighters in Iran for maintaining a free, serverless communication network, potentially connected to the internet

Summary

A network of devices, i.e. routers, which use mid-range to long-range wifi/other radio communication channels to create a mesh; this mesh is a serverless network using the miner devices, similar to the Helium device. Miner devices generate $RevolutionCoin, which is pegged to the US dollar and is backed by actual dollars invested in the revolution by the NGOs and individual investors out of Iran who want to support the revolution

Background read here:

Helium is an open-source blockchain network designed to power Internet of Things (IoT) devices with wireless connectivity. Helium technology enables communication between the devices, while the system sends data across the network nodes. The nodes that compose the network are known as Hotspots in the Helium system.

This is a very drafty version of the idea. We need to talk about it, and before that we need someone to explain how Helium works and what are benefits and risks

A major issue with mesh solutions is the detection and finding of mesh-based software on people's devices in Iran.

So is VPN. And we have self-destruction.

@IranNewsWatch have you seen this discussion about forDem's economy proposal?

IranNewsWatch commented 1 year ago

Not yet, you told me a bit about it and the mesh and then I thought let's use the coin idea to

  1. Promote the mesh
  2. Create a democratic way to support the freedom fighters.

I think we need creative idea to break the "visibility" issue. Not my area of expertise but I think that's eaither this or probably nothing (except for Elon's second generation satellites which could connect to specific phones directly and due to mobility has lower risk of getting detected.)

I saw the other discussion. The use case is not the same. I have some other reservations that I don't think this is the right issue for it.
