'Protobuf' version conflict #487

I have installed hangups on arch via AUR (with yay) and when I try to run it I get this error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 583, in _build_master
    ws.require(__requires__)
  File "/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 900, in require
    needed = self.resolve(parse_requirements(requirements))
  File "/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 791, in resolve
    raise VersionConflict(dist, req).with_context(dependent_req)
pkg_resources.ContextualVersionConflict: (protobuf 3.7.0 (/usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages), Requirement.parse('protobuf<=3.6.1,>=3.1.0'), {'hangups'})

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: The 'protobuf<=3.6.1,>=3.1.0' distribution was not found and is required by hangups

The version of protobuf I have installed is 3.7.0 and I'm uncertain if changing this will break something else that is using it. Thank you for any assistance!

Installed via pip and it works fine. Closing.

The latest release doesn't have the recent changes to allow protobuf up to 3.10, but you could switch to the hangups-git AUR package in the meantime.
