More Solo modes #224

Open Tenchi2xh opened 4 years ago

Tenchi2xh commented 4 years ago

(I tried to find if similar issues were already created but couldn't find any)

More marathon line options

More solo modes would be welcome. Some would be relatively more easy to implement than others, but for now what about 150 line and 999 line modes, which would be mechanically the same as the current 40L mode?

Here's a UI idea for it:

image

(renamed the mode to "RUN" with a new pixel art text, and sub-modes would be some additional beveled squares of increasing brightness on the right)

I don't know if this would affect the player profile cards as well?

The gravity increase profile for the 999 mode would be quite steep, starting to be almost instant at around 700 lines.

Other modes

Other modes that would be fun in solo, but maybe more in the long term:

(I don't think these modes would need to be in the player profile cards)

"garbage clear mode" should be called "cheese race"

"garbage clear mode" should be called "cheese race"

That's just the name jstris invented for their mode

Early Nintendo games called it B-Type

I referred to it as "garbage clear" because it's what you literally do in the mode, but tetr.io can find a different name that fits its design and branding for it. However, I don't think it should recycle jstris' name "cheese race"

New idea about the menu UI above: when hovering the 150L or 999L boxes, they could expand, for example 150L is highlighted, the left part with the "40 Lines Run" and description would shrink and only show "40L" while the "150L" part would expand horizontally and show a similar long description:

That would also work out for later when keyboard/controller support is added to the menus

(This expanding idea also fits with the current UI design idea where the menu boxes shift to the left when hovered)

I only just realized that the logos for each menu items are made from tetrominoes! lol Which makes my mockup "R" wrong

Zen kinda encompasses every mode now but there's no record keeping, it's just a sandbox, I still think separate modes are relevant

I've kinda been wondering about the current standings of this requested feature because it's been one year. Regarding Sprint, as someone who loves to test their endurance and consistency over a long duration (for example 1000L), this is a request I'd definitely love to have.

I'd like to know if this is in consideration to be implemented or not.
