The bot problem will probably be neutered when the Go rewrite is set to come out, as stocks and shares will be the next big thing on the to-do list, and will be implemented much faster as well (with @thecsw's expertise of Golang).
The bot problem has become a big one in recent months, with the firm update only making investments more predictable. Everyone knows the big formula: high investment count + low upvotes == big wins. But suppose we could find people who have effectively kept troves of data about successful memes (like @thomasvt1) and then use it to our advantage, looking at the bots of the past and then applying that algorithm to MIB.
We could effectively flag those bots to the MemeEconomy reddit mods, and then they could analyse and ban the bots more effectively, therefore squashing the bots to a very small number.
