Installing from src with make places binaries in $GITROOT/bin and not src/bin so that has no function.
Additionally, AFAIK the top level examples is a complete clone of src/examples and keeping both causes confusion (since runtests.csh from src/examples cannot work as binaries are not in src/bin.
