Widget request - More music player support #28

Hi, I really like your Rainmeter skin, it looks really nice paired with my other skin and on my desktop. Two issues with it though. First I would really appreciate it if you made a music player/remote that was compatible with other music players and services such as Windows Media Player, Winamp, iTunes, MusicBee (The one I use :grinning: ), Pandora, etc. Second, I would also really like to be able to change the color of the background or just have the option to give it a blur effect. If you ask me I believe this will make the skin perfect for me. Thank you for reading and have a great day!

P.S. I've downloaded Spotify just to try things out, but it appears the widget seems to freeze up with local files oddly (I've attached a screenshot) spotwidget

Thanks for the feedback!

Glad you like it :)

Music player support

I'll be looking into adding more music player support in future updates.

Background blur

If you're interested in adding a blur effect to the background, check out this thread: https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23106

The feature isn't officially supported by Windows, so it could go away at any time, which is why I didn't include it in Win10 Widgets.

Background color

In future updates I'll try and make this easier, but for now, this is how you can manually change the background color for all the widgets:

  1. Open the following file: C:\Users\[Your_User_Name]\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\Win10 Widgets\@Resources\variables.ini
  2. Change the "BackgroundColor" variable to the RGBA color code you want to use. For example, "255,0,0,150" would be semi-transparent red (the first three numbers represent the red/green/blue values for the color, the last number represents the transparency).

Spotify

I didn't write the plugin for Spotify support, I just made the interface for the widget. If you want, you can reach out on the forum for the Spotify plugin and see if they have any answers for you: https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=17077

Oh, also... I really appreciate the feedback and I'm happy to answer questions and help out.

In the future though, can you make multiple "issues" for each topic? It makes it easier for other people that have the same questions to find answers. For example, if someone was looking for how to change the background color, they probably wouldn't check this thread since its title is about music player support.

Thanks! :)

Wow didn't think you'd actually respond, that's great to know, have a nice day! :grinning:

I second this. I totally understand if you don't have the time - after all, you're doing this for free in your own spare time. I can't thank you enough, honestly.

But I second this - I would love it to be compatible with iTunes and Windows Media Player. None of the other players out there for Rainmeter match your clean, large aesthetic.

While we are requesting additional software support, I'd like to add Fubar2000 to the list. My only complaint is the lack of support for other media players, this theme is fantastic.

I am far from the best at writing stuff for Rainmeter, but I have hacked & modified an existing skin to be a Windows 10 widget for Google Music (that uses the excellent Google Play Music Desktop Player - https://www.googleplaymusicdesktopplayer.com/ ensure you go to Desktop Setting and tick "Enable JSON API ).
