Had the same issue... just remove the exceptions from Defender and add them again...
Secrets of Windows.... ;)
Do you also have an exception for your downloads directory?
@pdieppa: No exception for downloads, but for the final miner directory. I'm using Firefox and 7-Zip, if that helps.
Maybe the file exceptions get lost with (certain) new binaries, because defender not only stores paths but also hashes for secure identification. And the renewed "threat" on file file level supersedes the directory exceptions so they are eventually useless.
In a way this looks for a right way of Defender to handle things.
If you don't add the downloads directory, it will be blocked and removed from the downloads directory. At least that's how it should work.
I switched off some stages of scanning - for starters the "folder monitoring" (don't know the right english term because uf my german windows ;) ) for ransomware... That may cancel the "crypto ransom" protection starting with the download...
But even Firefox sometimes warns about miners and sometimes not..
It seems like after extracting the lates 0.9.4 miner malicious software is being detected. i have add exceptions to the specific folder and been extracting previous teamred miner releases without any issues until now.
