Poor font rendering depending on look and feel #171

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch an application on Windows with the default (not platform) look and
feel

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The fonts do not look very good, with some appearing incorrectly as bold and/or
not anti-aliased properly.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
trunk r377 on Windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.
I am sure there are many other places in the code that make similar
assumptions, but I am attaching a patch of the changes I made. Note that if you
set the platform look and feel these changes are a bit redundant.

This ticket is broad enough to describe my issue as well.
On Mac OS X, the fonts are not being antialiased. Attaching a screenshot to
show the problem.
