T-shirt printing #57

Hi! Using gh-issues for this because it seemed easiest.

I got a quote from a printing shop here, RM20 each (around 4.75 euros) including both the T-shirt and the 5-color printing of https://michielbdejong.com/tshirt.svg based on a batch of 120.

This would be the T-shirt quality (not very sure how to judge it from a catalog, but yeah): http://www.vishirt.com/catalogue/vol10-2011-2012/cotton.pdf

I haven't asked for a discount yet, i think it's standard that you can always get a 10% discount by just asking for it with this sort of thing. I can probably get it produced in about two weeks (or maybe three weeks because next week is Chinese New Year), pick up the box at the printer's as soon as they're ready, and get all perks shipped by the end of the month.

I was thinking i generally find T-shirts with a fine collar nicer than the standard cotton T-shirts with the wider collar rim. i'll continue to try to find those. they told me that just the printing would be RM10, so if i find nicer shirts somewhere then that would also be an option.

other options which seem pretty much equivalent to me: http://www.bestselectionsport.com.my/images/tshirts/others/bmf010.jpg http://www.luckypremiums.com/db/Lp1tshirt15.html http://www.greencotton.com.my/index.php?page=tshirt http://www.esping.com.my/products/pdf/Esping2012.pdf

this one might actually be worth checking out: http://www.rcmm.com.my/index.php?route=product/product&path=93_62&product_id=50 or one of the Gildan "ring spun" ones on here: http://saltycustoms.com/?page_id=251#roundneck (visport apparently also sell Gildan) http://www.kenangacity.com.my/ (hopefully some wholesale T-shirt shops there)

i'll go have a look at these places tomorrow, let me know if you have any input to help me pick the right ones CC @jancborchardt @hugoroy

I have no opinion about that to be honest :) I can say I like how the

DDG tshirt feels.

@hugoroy yes, i was going to take that one with me as a reference. :) i will just try to find nice ones, at least it seems Kuala Lumpur has a big wholesale textile industry, so it should hopefully be easy to shop here.

Salty Customs seems to be the best option, looks like good quality and not just »here’s a shirt« business. They also have »skin fit«, which I assume means tapered – makes a big difference if a shirt is just regular sloppy style or proper fit.

As reference, for the @ownCloud shirts we used http://www.continentalclothing.com/page/ep03 – which is 155g and slim fit. Really good shirts.

i found some shirts that looked nice and brought 120 of them to the printer's. Will be shipping them by the end of the month. this includes 7 spares to give to future team members, hackathon winners, etc.

thanks for your help!
