Non-standard double quotes when translating into Afrikaans #3251

On Windows 7, with Virtaal 0.7.1, when I type double quotes, Virtaal writes [¨] instead of ["]. The correct double quote for Afrikaans is ["] or [“/”]. incorrect double quotes in virtaal

This is a very unfortunate bug in an underlying library, GTK+. It only manifests when using the US (International) keyboard layout, as far as I know. There are a few other related things, like dead keys not working as they should. The underlying bug was fixed recently for GTK3, but I don't know if that would be backported to GTK2 that we use. So this might remain a problem until we upgrade the code to GTK3 (needs to be done anyway).
