Display total count of records available in a more prominent position

The total record count is currently given in the browser's header bar and tab 
title on the entry page (data.gbif.org). This is often overlooked, and we need 
to consider where to publish this number in a position with better visibility - 
still needs discussion, where.
Suggestions:
- entry page, "the grey box": change from static entry "Access millions of data 
records shared via the GBIF network." to "Access 201,269,555 data records 
shared via the GBIF network.", or similar
- introduce a statistics area that gives some basic summary counts (total, 
total georeferenced, etc.)

Do you need to show the providers count too?

Just deployed the latest changes, but the value seems to be truncating to the 
millionths. Attaching an image

the number was displayed with wrong format in Safari and MSIE, fixed in 
revision r183
