Running a legacy tool with Python TreeGrunt causes 3ds max to crash #44

Hi
First of thank you for making your great tools available to artists around the
world.
Now a bit of help if you can.
I managed to install all required and I get python menu and I can run Treegrunt
inside max.
Now, when I run Onion it runs fine but as soon as I run Render Elements , boom
Max crashes without even error message.
I run it on win7, 64 bit, 3ds max 2012 64bit (with hotfix1,2 and sp1). Do you
have any clue what to look for and if anybody had similar problem?
Thank you,
Kristijan

It looks like there is a problem with running Render Elements(and possibly
other legacy tools) using the python version of Treegrunt.

You can get Render Elements to run by using the older MaxScript version of
Treegrunt.

You can use the old treegrunt to create a macro to open the tool
1. Open Python treegrunt. (Python Menu -> Treegrunt)
2. Search for treegrunt64(treegrunt for 32bit max). Double click on TreeGrunt64
to run it.
3. Search for Render Elements in the maxscript treegrunt(TreeGrunt_dialog 2.0)
4. Right click on Render Elements in the list and select Make Blur Grunt Macro.
(If you get a error at this point its probably windows permissions.)
5. Using Customize Menu -> Customize User interface... you can find any created
macros under the Blur Grunt Macros category.

There may be other legacy tools that have this problem.
