@jlefevre the only missing piece for this is the part that explains how to run vstart.sh within the build step in order to test in the way you do interactively. I'm not sure if we should put that in the README.md or in a script in the scripts/ folder.

I think we should add to a dev section of the readme and also add a script, since it is a key part of development for us. I have a script for this but am working on this now with 2 students trying it out, since they're also having some difficulty with vstart. We will finalize some concise vstart instructions but let's merge this part now, thanks!
