Licensing and Attribution Issue with reuse of Meta logger.py Script #1

I wish to bring to your attention a potential issue regarding the logger.py script in this repository. This is reproduced verbatim (save one line of code and removal of the copywrite notice) from a logging script in Meta's Transcoder project, originally licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International Public License (CC BY-NC 4.0). However, in this repository, the script is distributed under the MIT License without the required attribution to the original authors.

The CC BY-NC 4.0 license mandates attribution to the original creators and restricts commercial use, conditions that are not met by the MIT License. The absence of proper attribution and the licensing discrepancy could lead to legal and ethical issues in open-source software distribution.

To rectify this, I suggest either:

  1. Re-licensing the logger.py script under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license with proper attribution to Meta.
  2. Significantly modifying the script, if retaining the MIT License, to ensure it is not derivative of the CC BY-NC 4.0 licensed work.

Thank you for addressing this issue to maintain the integrity of open-source licensing practices.

The util script here may also be affected with methods and docstrings from Fixres and Transcoder util scripts appearing identical or very similar
