Map non-online status to offline

Facebook

What feature do you miss?

Since Facebook is only a online/offline protocol i think it would be better to 
map non-online statuses to offline in facebook, i keep getting lots of messages 
from my friends while i'm away.
They cannot know i'm using a client, so they believe i'm navigating FB.

Maybe the right mapping would be:
online, free for chat > FB online
All other statuses > FB offline

Or, best way, let the choice to the user.
