I second this, and it could be done with gestures as well like I suggested here #960
If possible, also in the overlay on a locked screen. In these use cases, usually showing the title is less of importance and more space could be used to offer five buttons. If space is very sparse, add at least the skip x seconds back.
(Regarding the icon, I prefer the one with a single arrow head.)
I wonder if we maybe should just show these buttons somewhere in the UI automatically IFF the track played is longer than, let's say 15 minutes - in which case it is almost certainly a podcast/audiobook (or a classical concert ;-) )
Please make this configurable in minutes. E.g. this language course is split up in 3-minute tracks (some are even 2:57).
@adrian-bl Or several options to fit the use of everyone :)
When the app is in landscape mode, there is enough room for an initial implementation of the x seconds forward and backward skip.
Would putting a bounty on this issue help? What bounty platform is preferred?
Any ideas on how to move this forward?

Alternatively, (or also add) press and hold the next or previous track buttons to advance or rewind within the current track. Lots of media players used to work like that and it doesn't require changing the button format.
Good proposal for (additional) implementation

):Description
Offer in the settings an option to replace the buttons to hide the shuffle and repeat buttons and to show skipping back or forward 5 or 15 seconds. The previous and next track buttons will be moved to those places and in between with regard to the play pause button a skip back and forward button is show.
When this option is enabled, a second option becomes available to select how many seconds to skip. Common values are:
The number of seconds will also be shown on the button.
Similar functionality is found in many media players such as Spotify, SoundCloud and Mixcloud and is very useful for listening to podcasts, DJ sets and language lessons.
