Google's reCAPTCHA. #1

Wouldn't a system like Google's reCAPTCHA be better for like buttons? reCAPTCHA seems to effectively block bots and at the same time providing a really good UX (just a click, in most cases!). And like buttons are supposed to work that way right? Just a click.

Sure, but then the challenges are not easily generated and the likes are not publicly auditable.

Also, the buttons here are supposed to be one-click. The computation happens in the background.

This system is no protection against bots. The only assurance is that the like represented are backed by some resource.
