Brew now pours a bottle - compiled package - so this is now more or less the length of time it takes to download the compressed tarball.

Do you mean it happens automatically and I don't have to specify the download link for each version?

People are pretty responsive about updating the package version. I used to maintain homebrew-php and I'd get issues and PRs for unreleased versions of PHP within a minute or two :|
