Revive Vico Editor #94

Who has the direction and required skills to revive this great text editor ? Let's discuss around that.

I would welcome interest here. I'm still the maintainer, but as I noted here haven't been able to devote much time in several years. I'm around to merge PRs and potentially hand over maintainership to someone who is interested in moving things forward.

@Shadowfiend What's the approximate budget a MacOS dev would require to build this for Catalina? I'm happy to give my share or in full if it's reasonable.

Hard to know off the top of my head… If the issue is just a cross-compile to 64-bit, it should probably be a 1-day job, but if there are API changes and incompatibilities with some of the C APIs in the mix, it may be a much bigger job. If we're ballparking hourly figures for an arbitrary dev, I'd say there's probably a minimum of $100 just to investigate, if it's a quick move I'd guess it's around $200-1000 total to properly compensate (depending on how quick, basically). If it's a bigger job, you're entering multi-thousand.

That ignores willingness to do this for less due to the open source nature, ofc. I'd probably be willing to do it for less, but my struggle right now is bandwidth and I don't see much bandwidth becoming available in the next month or two.

Still, I may try to poke this with a stick to try and get a feel for how big the lift feels like it would be.
