There are two sets of counting systems in Vietnamese, the Sino-Vietnamese counting system (Sino-Xenic) and the native Vietnamese counting system. In addition, there are cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers.

Assuming historical documents used counters, it would be relevant to documents in Chữ Nôm and Chữ Hán. Chữ quốc ngữ would use Arabic digits for counters, and would use the digits as listed when numbers are spelled out.

Probably a more relevant question is what numbers are used in Chữ Nôm Tày.
