[Enhancement] Shields

Description

As a product owner, I want to provide important KPI on the frontpage of each repository. Shields seem to have established for the sake of giving status information like versions, build status and download counts. Establishing at least some shields for the most common integrations and tools we use will be helpful for everybody.

Criteria

• document how shields can be used (https://shields.io/)
• provide some default shields in the template repository
• add a document describing how shields work with some examples for our integrations and tooling (ansible, codefactor, slack, etc.) if useful
