There are at least two possible formats for goniometer messages:
plain text log files -- this is what parsegonio is currently set up to parse.
an excel file (97-2003 *.xls) with columns when you export a favorite.
We generally don't rely on the second format because you can only have 16 favorites at a time. benefit is that this works even when using the receiver without a connected computer in hyperterminal mode. drawback is if you have more than 16 platforms you can't record them all at once.
Solution
I don't really want any dependencies to read in the xls format. So I think I'll probably require it be converted to csv by the user and then imported.
