This version works well for me on real hardware - socket 478 Pentium-4; XP SP3+. Better than older versions 124 and earlier.

Can you possibly tell me if you have it installed to Program Files, or to a custom folder? And what do you have on top of SP3 - maybe SP4 Unofficial ENU of something? Maybe it's Windows that needs some minor tweaking: I have learned this c:\Supremium installation trick from #365, and one of the guys there had an issue on IBM Thinkpad, which is definitely real hardware.
Partially solved: the vis_inet person from https://habr.com/ru/news/791526/ suggests, that it is the installer that causes the problem. He reports, that unpacking the package directly helps. I have refreshed my 7Zip (honestly paid for in 2009) and unpacked the latest release 7Zip archive, but only found a bunch of PDBs totaling over 2GBs, and they would not run. However, I have realized, that I can apply 7Zip in the browser mode to the regular 100Mb .exe file - and voila, it extracted the files to the folder, from which the chrome.exe of 126.0.6478.249 version is now running smoothly. At my end the problem seems to be totally solved now.
I suppose that some of people (not as desperate as myself) would run the .exe with error code 6, call names and give up, thus decreasing the positive user experience. I can humbly suggest a dumb solution: maybe add a "Error 6 special" 7-zip archive to the release, with the comment "if you have Error 6 during install then just un-7Zip this folder to where you want and from there run chrome.exe without installation".

Yes, I also use the unpacked version. It is always installer exe as the file source.
The current Supermium installer is also a 7z archive, but using the 7zip sfx package to make it executable and self-extracting,
If I do create another package, it will probably be a ZIP archive so it can be opened on XP even without installing other applications.
Or find a way to fix the Error 6 message.

Thank you very much for all the work you have done so far! I'm so delighted that my information was indeed somewhat helpful. My humble opinion is, that ZIP archive would be a great option, because Supermium would need to appeal to the more regular people to be popular, and unpacking ZIP is much easier, because it's built in the XP and further systems. I have figured out in seconds, that by making a Desktop Shortcut I'll get the same Supermium. However, the fancy installation gave me Error 6 and I've spent hours trying to find a solution.
Describe the bug Hi there, good people of Supermium team!
First of all, I would like to thank you for making this project, it really helps me here.
Maybe you could be interested, that I have been using Supermium 124.0.6367.245 (release .exe file size 95416831 bytes) for about a month now on Windows XP. That one had the small installation issue (had to be installed to c:\Supermium, did not like the Program Files folder), Installation Error code 6. No conflicts with anti-virus software, just purring like a kitten all the way.
Now I have found, that the newer releases would not install on Windows XP. The latest 2 have the same Error code 6 issue, and with them it can not be fixed with setting the folder to C:\Supermium. The first 126 series release (126.0.6478.249) can be installed to c:\Supermium, but would not run and gives no error codes or anything.
The last version working on Windows XP here is 124.0.6367.245R2 (release .exe file size 105410178 bytes). It can be installed to c:\Supermium as usual. When the Supermium starts, it gives an error «api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll not found» and mentions, that this can maybe be fixed by the reinstallation. The reinstallation does not help, but in a second (literally) the Supermium starts and seem to be working fine with no further errors.
So I guess, the 124.0.6367.245R2 version is the last one working on Windows XP. Maybe it is worth mentioning that in the release description.
I have reinstalled the 124.0.6367.245 back, and keep using it with no further errors.
Thank you very much again for your work and efforts!
Have a very nice day indeed.
To Reproduce Try to install latest version to Windows XP SP3
