1.20.1 Backport #11

Would it be possible to backport this to 1.20.1

At a later stage of development (read, once it's fully released), possibly. Right now that just does not make sense because on one hand we want to "finish" it first and on the other hand this would effectively mean double the effort for every change we make - not a very smart move.
