New GUI

Building a new GUI needs to be a priority. Too many things are being held back by not having it in place. Unfortunately, this probably cannot happen unless this project gets more developers or some funding, so I'm creating this issue to help document all of the things that are being held back by not having this. Off the top of my head:

• GUI users cannot use global debug flag
• GUI users cannot use Shapes
• Version flags will be stripped out by old GUI, forcing us to default to legacy version flag

This is in addition to the very long list of bugs and issues that folks have complained about in the old GUI for years and which we cannot currently fix.
