Bibliography is not being updated #4

Hi, I have a multi-document thesis and I use one .bib for all documents, everything managed through classicthesis style. I have updated name of the author in Zotero, and I can see it is not being updated in the .bib file, and Lyx still produces bibliography with the old name of the author. Of course I did Lyz-->update Bibtex. Zotero 4.0.17.1, LyZ 2.1.7.

Any help strongly appreciated.

So what did you do that worked before you tried to update the bibliography? You generated the bibliography with LyZ and loaded it into LyX and everything was there? And now it just isn't updating? When you add new citations, do they show up properly?

Hi! I have not tried before updating the bibliography, unfortunately my examiners resist on unifying all names, so I have to cut all first names to first letters only. And it simply does not work, I am updating Zotero, but LyZ->update bibtex simply does not change the names in the linked bibtex file according to the current zotero state. New citations work perfectly fine. And yes, all bibtex file was generated from Zotero via LyZ from scratch, I am working on it for a few years right now without any issues.

I am not sure when I will have time, but I will try to look into this. The first thing I would try is making a new LyX document, adding a couple references, and then trying to update one of them. I have done update the BibTeX file in the past (with a master document containing many child documents), so I am not sure how to start debugging the issue you are seeing since I would think this would just work. If I could reproduce the issue myself with a simple document (rather than using your whole thesis and bibliography), that would be a good start.

(EDIT: I tried making a new document, adding a citation, changing the author name, and then doing "Update BibTeX" -- it worked for me).

Also, you could try looking for errors in the Firefox Browser Console when you run 'Update BibTeX'.

Were you able to make any progress on this? I haven't been able to reproduce the problem myself.

Hi! Unfortunately I was forced to remove all references from LyX and add them again, which allowed me to submit my thesis few days ago. Now I'm really not able to look at my PC, sorry :( I need some rest.
